Marquette, MI – The mud will wash away but the memories of fun from this local mud challenge will stay forever!  This has got to be one of the best summer outdoor events happening in Marquette and the best part may be that for once you don’t need to care about the weather because the worse it is the better the challenge!

marquette_mountain_mud_run_mud_bath_photoNo need to be an extreme sport seeker to participate in this mud run event, just an extreme fun seeker.  Beyond the t-shirt, the obstacles, and the mud this race offers an all around good time.  Grunts, moans, laughs, and smiles were in abundance as participants of all ages ran, climbed, splashed, and crawled through snow, streams, slides, foam and mud from the top of the mountain to the bottom.

To start racers are treated to a scenic ride up the ski hill on the chairlift to the starting line.  Participants can choose from running a 2 mile or 4 mile race but either one takes them through the same obstacles.  They weave up and down the ski hill racing from one challenge to the next making a 500ft descent to the finish line.

Like dressing up? Costumes are encouraged with prizes for the best ones in each category.  There are also prizes for top finishers and the race culminates with food, drinks, and a dj party at the chalet after the race.  My only complaint is that it’s so much fun it should last the entire weekend with more events, music, & food!
