Marquette MI- Marquette’s Dead River Derby girls opened their 2015 season with a double hitter at the Lakeview Arena on Saturday March 11. The girls had the honor of hosting the Keweenaw Roller Girls of Houghton MI and the Downriver Roller Dollz of Woodhaven MI.
The bouts started at 6 with the Downriver Roller Dollz. After a short break the Dead River Derby lined up against the Keweenaw Roller Girls. Both bouts were filled with high action and excitement.
Proceeds from the event will go to the new JJ Packs program being implemented in the public schools which provides food for kids in need on the weekends and over holiday breaks when they’re not in school.

When I was a little girl my parents taught me how to use a camera. I spent my photographic childhood in 4-H taking photos so I could enter them into the yearly county fair and have them judged.
I have a BFA in photography from Northern Michigan University. My favorite photographic subjects are sports and nature. My dream career is to be a sports photographer working for a big name team or media.
I have been a volunteer photographer for the Beacon House in Marquette for some of their fundraising events. In May 2014 I became a contributor with marquettemagazine.com.
