Marquette, MI – Thursday, April 10, 2014 featured a fashion fundraiser in downtown Marquette to showcase local businesses and benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters non-profit.  A great crowd turned out to enjoy good food, do some wine tasting, and of course get a sneak preview of what some of our Marquette retailers will be featuring for summer trends.

A well timed event as most of us are ready to emerge from our winter burrows since the weather has started taking a turn towards warmer days.  This was truly a win-win-win experience as everyone had something to gain from the patrons in attendance who enjoyed great food, drinks, prizes, and entertainment; to the exposure for local businesses who participated with lots of donations and special offerings; to the local non-profit that will receive some always appreciated monetary support for the great services they provide.  $1000.00 was raised during the event for this year’s beneficiary Big Brothers Big Sisters!

Local boutique owner Yubi Ghiardi of Che Bello organized a snappy little fashion show with other boutique owners from the downtown district.  Featured fashion looks were put together by downtown newcomer Boomerang Retro & Relics, The Darling Corner Boutique, Yooper T-shirts, and of course Che Bello.  The variety of looks put together was impressive!  They featured casual and semi-formal wear spanning a wide range of ages.  Lots of men’s fashion looks were also presented with style any yooper guy could appreciate.

With so many positives you can’t afford to miss the next one!  This is a great local event featuring midwest fashion that I predict will continue to grow.  I have just one more comment in closing: There’s room for more local fashions to be featured and how about a fall show too!?
