Marquette, MI – The Lake Superior Theatre presents the second production of their 2014 season over the next two weeks; the Tom Jones musical “I Do! I Do!”

I was immediately drawn in by this simple musical production which takes place entirely in the bedroom of a newly married couple and follows them through the ups and downs of their ensuing 50 year marriage. Peek around the four-poster bed and you can catch a glimpse of their live musician accompanying the actors on all the songs during the performances.

The uncomplicated surroundings contrasts the complexity of their relationship as it matures over time. We are voyeurs of thier developing marriage yet it is extremely engaging and we are pulled in by the relatability to our own lives if one has ever chosen the path of partnering with another.

Unlike when we are embroiled in our own dramas, frustration, and anger, it’s amusing to watch someone else’s disputes. It allows us to relieve some of the tension in our own lives through laughter and maybe even be reminded what it all comes back to in the end… love.
