Rollin on the River with Dead River Derby
Dead River Derby girls send the Hellcats home screaming!
Marquette, MI – The claws were out and the girls of both teams were hitting hard Saturday night as the Dead River Derby vs the Escanaba Rollin Hellcats during the Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby rivalry at Lakeview arena in Marquette, MI.
I would love to see the scrapbook of black & blues after this derby bout! The ladies were knocking each other around in this fast-paced derby match. Maintaining their undefeated status in the U.P. the Dead River Derby girls had to keep on their toes in their 2ns home bout of the season against Escanaba.
The Hellcats were in great form and put up an awesome fight against on the Dead River home track. DRD had to fight hard as the score volleyed back and forth between the two teams throughout the bout. Finally in the last five minutes the Dead River Derby girls ran away with the score beating out the Hellcats at 226 to 148. MVP’s were awarded to Dead River Derby girls “Glory Sparks” and “Knitta Pleazz”
These fabulous community events are for ALL ages! The derby events at Lakeview are full with character and fun featuring a bouncy house for the kiddos, dress-up photo booth, face-painting, and contest for the most spirited fan. They even have beer for the grown-ups and for a few extra bucks you can watch the game in style as a VIP on sofas placed daringly at the edge of the track.
On top of the all the fun to be had all the proceeds after costs are donated to a different charity each bout. This month’s featured beneficiary was the Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve another great asset to our local community.
